PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This six-acre property located on a 7500’ ridge overlooking Santa Fe, New Mexico, consists of an adobe style residence and two guesthouses. At the client’s request and working with licensed pool and landscape contractors, a swimming pool and spa, outdoor dining and BBQ area as well as pathways and gardens were designed to connect the houses and create a resort-like atmosphere. Taking our landscape design direction from the serenity of the site, we used primarily local materials and native plants. Sandstone and local moss rock were installed to create the natural style pool, patio and stairways. 150-year-old reclaimed timbers support the poolside Ramada; drought-tolerant perimeter plantings were restricted to a palette of blue, white, brown and green to blend with the expansive views. Perennial and cutting gardens were created in the courtyard and adjacent to the house with an emphasis on year-round interest. We have been involved in maintaining this garden using organic and sustainable practices since it’s inception over ten years ago.
